Obituary for Jennifer Perkins Roland

Jennifer Renee Roland passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 25, 2018 in Burleson, Texas at the young age of 45.
Jennifer is survived by her parents, John Thomas & Doris Rayline Perkins of Midlothian, Texas;
her husband, Stephen Roland; 2 children, Tristin and Carsyn Roland of Burleson, Texas;
2 siblings, Denise Wyrick of Burleson, Texas and Casey Perkins of Flower Mound, Texas.
Jennifer was born on April 23, 1973 in Dallas, Texas to John & Rayline Perkins. Jennifer graduated from Desoto High School in 1991 with hopes of joining the FBI. Jennifer then attended the University of Texas at Arlington to pursue a career in criminal justice. A few years later Jennifer set out to reward herself with her first brand new car and on the evening of July 21, 1999 she did just that. Little did she know that when she took a left into the dealership parking lot, she was going to get way more than what she would bargain for. That night after leaving the dealership in her brand new 1999 Silver Ford Mustang she would soon tell her roommate Brandi, “I think I just met the man I’m going to marry”. One year later July 21, 2000 Jennifer Perkins married that car salesman, Stephen Roland.
The couple soon moved from the little apartment in Irving, Texas to their first house in Grand Prairie, Texas. Jennifer would continue working for the Law Firm of Jenkins & Gilchrist as a paralegal. Over the next few years the couple welcomed 2 striking young boys into their home.
A few years later Jennifer decided it was time to make a change in her career. Jennifer always wanted to join the FBI but felt her calling was to walk away from her paralegal career after 10 years and obtain a master’s degree in education from the University of North Texas. She returned to her roots in Desoto to begin her teaching career at Amber Terrace Elementary, then Ruby Young Elementary where she attended elementary school as a child. During her time in the Desoto ISD she obtained Teacher of the Year in 2012. The following year she joined the Joshua ISD by becoming an Assistant Principal at Caddo Grove Elementary. Jennifer was at her happiest moment out at Joshua because she had the opportunity to ride into work everyday with her boys as Tristin walked just next door to the Middle School and Carysn attended Caddo Grove Elementary. The following year Jennifer got a dream come true job by becoming an On-Line Principal for K-12 Virtual Academy.
Jennifer was passionate about educating the youth of tomorrow. She was always dedicated to making a difference in each child’s life. It was always the “Child Comes First” with Jennifer. She knew that it would take a village to guide children in the right direction and she was going to do whatever it took to make an impact on every child’s life that she encountered. That’s what Jennifer was all about.
Jennifer’s visitation will be Saturday evening December 29, 2018 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel 811 S. Cockrell Hill Rd. Duncanville, TX 75137 from 6pm to 8pm with the funeral service Sunday December 30, 2018 at First Baptist Church (FBC) in Midlothian, Texas at 2pm. Pastor Bruce Prindle will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jennifer Roland's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to and search “Love for the Rolands”. Condolences can also be sent to Jennifer’s Support Group Page on Facebook . The family would like to thank Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Heart to Heart Hospice Care for their care and dedication to Jennifer and to the Family during this difficult time.
