Maxine Loftin Rogers of Desoto went to her heavenly home on her birthday, Feb. 9, 2012. Seeing Jesus was the best birthday present she could have imagined. She was born in Rains County, TX on Feb. 9, 1926, the daughter of H.V. & Vallie (Asbill) Loftin. Early in her life she attended Lee Bible College (Lee University) in Sevierville, TN for two years. She married Melvin O. Rogers on June 27, 1947 in Dallas. A longtime member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church (since 1955), she was active in the nursing home ministry & the Christian Women’s club. Upon her retirement from AAFES in 1993, she immediately took up the nursing home ministry and served until her death. Her husband of 65 years, Melvin O. Rogers survives her. Also surviving is her daughter, Carolyn Schindler; son, Mike Rogers & wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Scott Shipman, Mel Rogers, Will Rogers & Emily Rogers; great grandchildren, Brent Shipman, Kara Shipman, Gary Rogers & Joelle Rogers, along with many loving friends and extended family. Funeral Services are 10:30 AM, Wed. Feb. 15, 2012 at The Gospel Lighthouse, 5525 W. Illinois, Dallas, TX 75211. Burial follows at DFW National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM, Tuesday at Jaynes Memorial Chapel.      (send flowers)
