Stewart Yates

Stewart Yates, beloved father, ardent Christian, and long time Duncanville, Texas, resident, went to be with the Lord, Sunday morning June 27, 2010, at the age of 91. He follows in death his adoring wife, Evelyn. He is survived by son, Ronald Yates, daughter, Carol Baggett, and daughter, Linda Evans; grandchildren, Khalin Zadwick and Matthew Evans; great-grandchildren, Judah Zadwick and Elijah Zadwick; and a brother, Hubert Yates. Viewing will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, June 29, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville. Graveside services are 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 S. Cedar Hill Road in Duncanville. Bro. Werner Dyer will officiate.

Larry Adamson
June 22, 2010

Retired Dallas Police Senior Corporal Larry Mac Adamson passed away on June 22, 2010. Larry was born on May 17, 1942 in Bonham, Texas to Clyde and Lois Adamson, who preceded him in death. Larry graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1960 before joining the U.S. Army. He then proudly served as a Dallas Police Officer for 35 years. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; son Matthew and wife Heather; daughter, Holly; brother, Jerry and wife Barbara; in-laws Jerry and Jolene Price; along with many other loving family members. Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 25, 2010 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, officiated by Mr. Roy Shave. Burial will be 2:00 pm Monday, June 28 at the Dallas – Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation is 6-8 pm Thursday, June 24 at the funeral home.

Jesus Martin Bernabe, Sr.
June 22, 2010

89, born April 13, 1921, in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines to his parents, Emiterio and Eufrocina Bernabe, passed away June 22, 2010. Jesus was an outstanding elementary school administrator for more than 30 years in San Jose, Nueva Ecija. He was also a farmer, a businessman and a local socio-civic-church leader, having been the Grand Knight of the local Knights of Columbus chapter in San Jose. He was the loving husband of Phoebe who predeceased him after 58 years of marriage on December 29, 2005. Jesus is survived by his son, Wilfredo & wife, Frances; daughter, Olivia; daughter, Gloria Tolentino & husband, Gerardo; daughter, Eleanor Tolentino & husband, Raymundo; and son, Jesus, Jr. & wife, Judy; as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM, Monday, July 12, 2010 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale in Duncanville. Visitation with the family is 6-8 PM, (7 PM Rosary) Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel.

John Frederick Smith II
June 21, 2010

John Frederick Smith II, 42, passed away on June 21, 2010. He was born in Springfield, MO, and graduated from St. Charles High School, St. Charles, MO. He earned a BA from the University of Missouri. Mr. Smith worked for the past 10 years in management and sales in the commercial furniture industry in Dallas, TX. He served on the board of The Kessler School and attended Kessler Park United Methodist Church, where he sang in the sanctuary choir. He is survived by his loving wife Cindy Carpenter-Smith and daughter Hudson, of Dallas; his parents John and Sue Smith of St. Charles, MO, two sisters, Jamie Smith Lucas and her husband Kendall of Denton, TX, and Holly Smith Zabka and her husband Guy of Nashville, TN; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Jeri Carpenter, Ken and Brenda Carpenter, Keith Carpenter, and Roy and Stephanie Carpenter; his grandmother LaVerne Herweck of St. Charles, MO, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by loving grandparents John H. and Mary Smith of Springfield, MO, and Harold Herweck of St. Charles. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 24, at 10 a.m. at Kessler United Methodist Church, 1215 Turner Avenue, Dallas. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 26, at 11 a.m., at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield, MO. Donations in Mr. Smith’s memory may be made to America’s Kindergarten Scholarships, c/o One Accord, Inc., PO Box 1364, St. Charles, MO.

Eugene F. Davis Sr.
June 20, 2010

Gene Davis passed away June 20, 2010. Preceded in death by his wife, Marcele Davis; son, Keith Wayne Davis; brothers, Joe & Walter Davis; sister, Doris Patten and parents, Joe & Ada Davis. Gene is survived by his sister, Francis Starrett; daughter, Claudia Rawlings & husband, Gary Kemp; son, Tony & wife, Anita, and son, Kevin. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Chad Rawlings & wife, Tina, Alicia King, Brian Rawlings & wife, Krissy, Chris Davis & wife, Amy, Belinda Przybyl & husband, Ryan, Keith Wayne Davis, Jr., Hannah Davis, Chandler Davis, Chase Davis & Christian Davis, and 8 great-granddaughters. Visitation is Tuesday June 22nd, 7–9 pm at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville. Graveside Service is 10:00 am Wednesday at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Wanda Rea Blair
June 17, 2010

Loving wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wanda Rea Binion Blair, age 87, passed away June 17, 2010. Born on January 17, 1923, near Henrietta, TX, Wanda was a resident of Duncanville for many years. She was a homemaker and loved her family and many friends well. Wanda also cared deeply for children in need, and she supported many efforts for children’s homes. She was a long time member of the Duncanville Church of Christ. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Arthur T. Blair, Jr.; daughter, Chris Rea Harlow and husband Terry; son, Tom Blair and wife Dianne; daughter, Charlotte Wren Pevoto and husband, Rod; grandchildren, Craig Harlow and Kassie, J. T. Blair and Brittany, Libby Rea Ratliff and Jason, Russ Pevoto, Michael Blair and Melissa, and Sean Pevoto and Jenni; great-grandchildren, Drew and Hilary Harlow, Ryker, Mace, and Hawke Ratliff, and baby boy Blair due to arrive later this year; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Barnes, and brother-in-law, James Blair; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are accepted for Arms of Hope, 21300 State Hwy 16N, Medina, TX 78055. Funeral services are 10:00 am, Monday, June 21, 2010, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel. L.O. Pickering was born October 12, 1923, and passed away on June 16, 2010, at age 87. He is survived by his sons, and other loving family. Graveside Service is 10:00 AM, Friday, June 25, 2010 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM, Thursday at Jaynes Memorial Chapel.

Eufaula Pierce
June 14, 2010

Eufaula G. Newcom Pierce “Granny” left this world peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2010. She was born on October 17, 1925 to Minnie Dallas and Lilburn Lowe Newcom in Ohio County, Kentucky, and lived most of her life in Louisville. Eufaula moved to Waxahachie, Texas in 1997 and was a resident there until her death. She was married to Troy A. Pierce in 1941 and the couple had three children.
Eufaula was employed by the Lorillard Corporation in Louisville where she was known as “Gaye.” She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Louisville for more than 50 years and loved her church family. She is most recently a member of Crossroads of Life Assembly of God in Duncanville, Texas. Her many friends and co-workers enjoyed her sense of humor and knew her as a loyal and supportive friend.
She leaves behind a loving family; daughter Wilma “Julie” Mitchell and husband, Hayes; son Dennis Gerald; and daughter Pamela “Kasi” Jones and husband, Don. “Granny” has 9 grandchildren: Sandra (Jeff) Tanner, Robbi Goldstein, Griffin Goldstein, Amy Goldstein, Chris (Corrin) Pierce, Blake (Kendra) Pierce, Donovan Jones, Brady (Kristen) Jones, and Cameron Jones; and 12 great-grandchildren: Wesley Holt, Sam Holt, Coty Campos-Goldstein, Ben Holt, Daniel Tanner, Keith Goldstein, Lexy Goldstein, Jake Goldstein, Madelynn Pierce, Jayce Pierce, Clara Pierce and Davin Jones. Also surviving is her sister, Edna Sandefur of New Albany, Indiana.
The family extends special thanks to Lighted Pathways Hospice Care and Dr. T. G. Ledbetter, Ava Lynn, and Chaplain Dalvin for their kindness, compassion and care given to Eufaula in the past few weeks.
The family will host a visitation on Wednesday, June 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, with memorial service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 17 at Jaynes. Dr. Gaylan D. Claunch will officiate. Interment will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dennis Roiger
June 12, 2010

Dennis Roiger passed away June 12, 2010. He was born January 30, 1938, in Springfield, MN. He retired from Greyhound Bus Company after 43 years of service. He is survived by his wife Sandy, son Mike, daughter Renee and husband Tim Riffe, and grandchildren Travis, Josh, and Ashley Riffe. Also surviving is his sister, LaVonne and her husband Ed Pautzke, and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gertrude Roiger, daughter Jenny and infant son David. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, June 15, at Jaynes. Memorial Service will be 3:00 pm, Wednesday, June 16, at New Life in Christ Lutheran Church, 311 S. Cockrell Hill Rd in Duncanville, Texas, 75116.

Janice Talley

Janice Schafer Talley, age 65, of Waxahachie, Texas, was born August 8, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Helen Marie (Worden) and William A. Schafer. She passed away June 10, 2010. Janice was a third generation owner of an outdoor amusement business. She is preceded in death by her husband, Terry Talley, and is survived by her sons, Tim Talley & wife Laurie, Tom Talley & wife Mary, and Tony Talley and wife Prissy; 8 grandchildren, Heather, Timmy, Meagan Sims & husband C.J., Cortney, Taylor, Tyler, Tucker, and Tabitha; sisters, Jean Spradling and husband, Richard and Jeannette Austin and husband, Clint; an aunt, Dollie Stewart and husband, George; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 12:00 noon, Monday, June 14, 2010, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, Texas, with Dr. Mickey Moriarty officiating. Burial will follow in Little Bethel Memorial Park. Visitation with the family is 4-6 pm, Sunday, at Jaynes.
